What a week could look like

There’s plenty of variety in this role. Here’s what a typical 3 day week during school term might look like.

Tuesday

Morning

A high school workshop to a group  of year 10 girls. You’re at the front of the room with 120 students, unpacking energy drinks, protein powders and what’s actually worth believing on TikTok.

Afternoon

Quick debrief notes and updates to session. Content creation about the session.

Wednesday

Morning

One on one private practice consults. Real people, real goals, practical plans they’ll stick to.

Afternoon

Drafting a new resource with Alex. You turn a stack of research into a one page guide a busy teacher can use tomorrow.

Thursday

Morning

A Year 11 session on eating well through exam season. Lots of questions and a student hangs back afterwards to ask one more.

Afternoon

Planning session with Anna on a new program for next year. Your ideas go on the whiteboard next to ours.

Outside school terms the balance shifts towards content, professional development and new projects. As the business grows the mix will keep changing, and we’d rather shape it around your strengths than a fixed list.

What you'll be doing

01

Deliver our high school programs

Run interactive nutrition workshops in Sydney high schools. The programs are built and tested. You’ll learn them properly, then bring your own style to them.

02

Present with confidence

Classes, whole year groups and sometimes staff or parents. Teenagers are an honest audience, and holding their attention is a skill you’ll get very good at.

03

See private clients

A smaller share of your week goes to one on one consultations, so your individual counselling skills stay sharp.

04

Create content and resources

Turn nutrition science into handouts, guides and content that people read, understand and act on.

05

Help build what's next

Contribute to new programs, digital resources and products. Good ideas get built here, whoever they come from.

06

Say yes to new opportunities

The business is growing. When something new comes up, you’ll be in the conversation from the start.

See the program you'll be delivering

Fuel Your Potential is our whole-school nutrition program for Years 7 to 12. It’s non-diet, weight-neutral and eating disorder-informed, so there’s no calorie talk and no good or bad foods. It’s the core of the school work in this role.

The honest bit

Worth knowing before you apply

A small business is a different experience from a hospital or a big practice. Here’s what that means day to day.

The role will evolve

This page is our best picture of the job today. In a year it’ll look different, partly because of what you bring to it.

It's a small team

You’ll work directly with Anna and Alex and our incredible team of interns. Decisions are quick and your input counts. There’s no big department behind you, so using your initiative matters.

You'll be on the move

Schools are spread across Sydney, so you’ll travel between sites. Driver’s licence and care are required.

School terms set the rhythm

Term time leans towards delivery. Holidays lean towards content, development and planning. You’ll always know what’s coming.

Who we're hoping to meet

Dietitian qualifications get you in the door. Personality, communication and initiative are what we are really hiring for.

The essentials

What matters even more

Haven't done all of this before? Apply anyway.

You don’t need to have run school workshops, developed a product or written content for a brand. Most great dietitians haven’t done all three.

If you’re a strong communicator, you’re keen to learn and this page has you picturing yourself in the role, we’d love to hear from you.

What's in it for you

Pay

Competitive salary

Plus superannuation, based on experience. Professional development.

A real path to full time

The role is 2 to 3 days now. As the business grows, there’s genuine potential for it to become full time.

Variety most roles can't offer

Teaching, consulting, writing and building, often in the same week. Being part of a fast paced start-up.

Learn from two APDs who built a business

Direct mentoring from Anna and Alex on presenting, content, program design and the commercial side of dietetics.

Your ideas get built

Suggest a new workshop, digital product or resource and there’s a real chance you’ll be the one who makes it happen.

Why this role matters to us

Most dietitians we know love the science and love working with people. Far fewer get to spend their week teaching, creating and building something new at the same time. That’s what this role is.

Demand for our programs has outgrown what two people can deliver. We want someone who’ll bring their own energy and ideas into the mix, not just follow a script.

If you’ve read this far and you’re already picturing yourself at the front of a classroom, please apply. We read every application ourselves.

How to apply

4 simple steps

No lengthy selection criteria and no cover letter templates. We want to get a feel for who you are. Email the below to info@thebitingtruth.com

1

Send your CV and a short note

Email us your CV. In the body of the email, answer these two questions in a few sentences each:

  1. What nutrition topic could you teach a room of 15 year olds, and how would you keep them listening?
  2. Tell us about something you’ve started or built, in dietetics or anywhere else.

2

Send a short video

We want to get to know you, not just read a cover letter. Record a short video on your phone introducing yourself, telling us why this role interests you and what you think you could bring to The Biting Truth. Nothing polished needed. We just want to see your personality and hear from you.

3

Have a relaxed chat

Shortlisted applicants will have a 20 minute call with Anna or Alex. It’s a conversation, not an interrogation.

4

Meet us in person

The final interview includes a 10 minute presentation on a nutrition topic of your choice. You’ll get the details well in advance.

Applications close 1st November 2026

We’ll review applications as they arrive, so earlier is better. Preferred start: January 2026 (but flexible).

Apply by emailing Anna & Alex at info@thebitingtruth.com.

Things people usually ask

No. Experience with young people helps, but being able to connect with a room matters more. You’ll be fully trained in our programs before you deliver them on your own.

Yes, if you’re a confident presenter and you take initiative. Use your note to tell us why you’d be a strong fit.

School sessions run on weekdays during school hours. Ideally look for Tuesday, Wednesday and/or Thursday but can be flexible.

There’s genuine potential, and it’s something we’d talk about openly as the role grows. We can’t promise a timeline, and we won’t pretend otherwise.

Yes. Just talk to us about anything that might overlap with our clients or programs.

Across NSW. Some travel may be required.

Email info@thebitingtruth.com and one of us will get back to you.

Already picturing yourself in the role?

That’s usually a good sign. Send us your CV and a few lines about you. It takes about 15 minutes.
