Food Technology incursions | Years 9 to 12
Turn nutrition theory into real-world skills with an interactive, curriculum-aligned incursion delivered by Accredited Practising Dietitians.
From TikTok nutrition trends to supermarket food labels, we make food education relevant, engaging and genuinely useful.
Students are surrounded by nutrition information. But knowing what is accurate, what is marketing and what is relevant to them is not always easy.
Our incursions connect curriculum content with the food decisions teenagers are already making. These are possible focus areas, not five separate sessions. Your 60-minute incursion is tailored to your year level and curriculum priorities.

Can students tell the difference between credible nutrition advice and a persuasive social media claim?
Understand nutrition information panels, ingredient lists, serving sizes and what packaging claims really mean.
Explore how advertising, influencers and food trends shape what we buy and believe.
Understand how food supports concentration, energy, growth, sport and everyday wellbeing.
Build practical skills for navigating conflicting messages without rigid food rules or unnecessary guilt.
Question nutrition claims, recognise misleading messages and evaluate the credibility of information.
Understand food labels and apply nutrition knowledge to everyday decisions.
Develop practical, balanced approaches to nutrition without fear, guilt or restrictive food rules.
Our sessions complement Food Technology and Food Studies requirements across NSW, Victoria and Queensland. Content can be tailored to the year group, unit and learning outcomes your students are covering.

Food conversations can quickly move beyond the classroom. From supplement questions to restrictive eating trends and body image concerns, students are navigating an increasingly complicated nutrition landscape.
Our Accredited Practising Dietitians bring current, evidence-based expertise and experience presenting to teenagers. We create a positive, engaging learning environment where students can ask questions, challenge misinformation and build confidence around food.
In 90 seconds, see how our dietitians engage students and what they take away. This is our school program overview, and the same presenting style is used in every incursion.

Loved your nutrition presentation today and found it very interesting, inspirational and almost life changing.

Staff testimonial, Marist Catholic
We found it extremely worthwhile and your information we found to be most importantly to us, both valid and reliable.
Students and staff alike took away something new from the presentation, which provoked some great conversations to follow up with in the classroom.
On the truth behind the science surround food, tackling myths, and the stated the importance of optimal nutrition has on our overall wellbeing. The students were engaged throughout, and took a lot away from the program, incorporating strategies that they can implement in their day to day lives. We HIGHLY recommend the team at ‘The Biting Truth’.
Such an important message. Setting our students up for making balanced health choices throughout their lives.
We had The Biting Truth come and speak to our Year 11 and 12 students this week and had a fantastic experience. Alex was knowledgeable, engaging and provided the students with information that was useful, clear and appropriate.

Alex Parker and Anna Morgan are Accredited Practising Dietitians and co-founders of The Biting Truth. Between them they have spent over two decades working in nutrition, including more than ten years each in the high school space.
Both have their own complicated histories with food. They know firsthand what it feels like to grow up navigating confusing messages about eating, bodies, and what "healthy" is supposed to look like. Our school sessions are, in many ways, the education they wish someone had delivered to them at school.
They are also both mothers to daughters. That is not background detail. It is the reason this work matters to them the way it does.
Every incursion is delivered by an Accredited Practising Dietitian from our team.
